Anyone making the main wire harness grommet that goes in the firewall and held in with the spilt metal ring on a 54 or possibly all stepdowns? Didn't see it in the k-Gap catalog and mine is in as bad a shape as the wiring harness. Thought I would replace it since I took most of the stuff loose from the firewall to repaint it.

I vaguely remember this being discussed a while back. At any rate, the part you're talking about is somewhat generic, at least in function. Worse case senario, you could probably make one from a puck of a hard, closed cell rubber foam. You'd think that a supplier would have a similar circular rubber grommet. Have you checked all the usual sources?

These parts are available from the folks who part out cars... the rubber on some cars deteriorates, on others it stays is reusable shape. Check with some of the east coast folks like Lance or the Falks in Ne. I believe the part is interchangeable 51-54.

54 is by itself, it is considerably smaller. I believe the 51-53 grommet and bezel may have been reused by amc on the cj-5's. if not its awfully close.

I am looking for the grommet for the heat riser control thru the firewall on the 1929 Hudson and maybe other years ? It is obb long ??? and not round or square. I see these gone or rotting off most 1929's so I guess not avalable ????? Thanks

Nick is correct that the 54 is different than the 51-53... but the hole is in the same place and same size. The earlier grommet will work in place of the original.
