What is going on, is that thing really worth $12,000? It looks like it has major cancer and other issues. If that is what the trucks are going for I'll never have one. I under stand what a truck like Bill A's is worth, but I sure don't understand this one.

This isn't the first time this truck has been on Ebay... upper Body cancer near the window and affecting the door handle (other places too?), bondo, and from the looks of it there is damage to the right-rear of the bed, fender - probably sustained from at least one fender-bender (which knocked off a BIG chunk of bondo & damaged the right-rear of the cab) that hasn't been corrected either... Looks like it has been parked outside - And, the bed needs to be re-finished, before it goes too far 'south'.

It may run, but this is a project truck. Properly fix those issues - maybe then about $12,000...
Worth right now? Probably around $6-7k, if the engine, frame and drivetrain are in decent shape.

I would say that this one is grossly overpriced. I think that the gas can in the back may very well be the gas tank.... I bet you will meet an interesting individual tha would sign the title over on this one...

Rick; I look at this truck and I see a $2000 at best vehicle. If you can see all that bondo popping loose in photos it must really be bad in person. I would say more if it was the original drivetrain with lots of body work but this looks like a complete ground up restoration project if you want a good clean truck when it's done.

HarryYou're right Harry - There's a lot 'not to like' about this truck. :eek: My tan '46 needs a lot of work, but appears to be in better overall shape than this is - and the frame on mine is very questionable...

Before someone 'buys' into this truck, they need to go over it completely, in person - And I wouldn't even bother with it at the price listed...:rolleyes:

Pix are easy.

1) Find desired photo on the internet, place cursor on photo, RIGHT click, then left-click PROPERTIES from the resulting window.

2) Next to LOCATION, highlight with your cursor the part that starts "http", then right-click and select COPY. (Be sure to "sweep" over the entire URL, not just part of it.)

3) Go back to the particular Forum thread where you'll post photo. Hit POST REPLY.

4) When window opens, click GO ADVANCED.

5) Click on the "little yellow box" icon http://www.classiccar.com/forums/images/editor/insertimage.gif

6) Place cursor in white box, right-click, and from the window, select PASTE. (Be sure HTTP doesn't appear twice in the box)

7) Type a message to go with the photo, then click SUBMIT REPLY. (If this is a first posting and not a reply, you need to fill in a title).

Might take you 3 minutes to do this the first time, 2 minutes the second time, and after that you can do it blindfolded.

I haven't been able to get pictures to post from the hudson picture site (msn) for a couple of years - think it is because of the software this forum runs on... Try something else, from another site. Try going to the ebay auction for the subject thread, and post one of the pictures of the truck -

Just a few questions... although I am new here ( I have always lusted for a 47 Hudson PU) I have done several cars over the yeasrs. Mostly Mopar...

Welcome hoopity. Hudsons are great and this forum is the an excellent resource.

I also have a 47 PU that I bought this year. Grill bars are fairly common if your looking for the SS ones. I belive the fenders are the same, other than trim holes. I believe I have one left front that needs some work.

Is your truck the same one that was on Ebay in FL last year?

Welome to the forum - Take a look at the Hudson Essex Terraplane Club (http://www.hudsonclub.org) website when you get a chance. The dues are minimal, and include the award winning WTN Newsletter/magazine, published 6 times a year. There are around 3000 members and quite a few chapters, which are also listed on the website as well.

As the man says - that is one rare pickup. I was completely in the dark about the V-8 Dodge powered Hudson pickups. I didn't know that Hudson got V-8 engines from Dodge. Besides that it must have been a special order - I don't think the 318's came out until later.
Makes this beast an extremely rare and desireable vehicle to own, well beyond the current bidding prices.
And I also was clueless about the 1951 Dodge trucks having a 318 - all the ones I've seen were six cylinders - so I'd love to find one of those rare birds.
All in all I think I'd stay far, far away from this one - this fellow doesn't have a clue about old cars.
Now, all that said and done, a 318 would be an excellent choice to drop in a Hudson pickup of the 46-47 era. Or earlier, as the late Kelly Hinegardner put in his 37 T pickup (I can't remember now if he put a 318 in that one, or something bigger - but it was Mopar.

I would rather find something with a patina of age rather than this botch job. It looks like this guy watched the Barrett Jackson auctions and thought he would get rich on ebay. I hope he doesn't sell it. I think everyone should be allowed to make a fair profit on a decent product, but garbage shouldn't make anyone money. If the problems we can see are so obvious what do you think is hidden from view?

The club roster lists around 250 trucks, of which around 50 are pre-46
