Now that my mechanical restoration of the 55 (2nd series) is complete, Im wanting to do some chrome on the truck. However, Im a little suspicious of a $1100 shipped-to-my-door price for the parts list I have created from LMC Truck:

Heres two orders that if combined are free shipping (over $1000), but separate are $35 and $38 shipping respectively:

*Windows all chrome components with clear glass*
386160 386161 main door window glass and frame
$200
385992 channel kit
$100
386068 386062 vent glass and frame
$120
386118 vent channel kit
$13
385985 vent seal kit
$30
---------------------------
$498 SHIPPED

*Front end all chrome components*
383886 grill
$340
364308 headlight bezel with seals
$90
389851 front bumper premium
$190
300190 bumper bolt kit (stainless)
$22
---------------------------
$680 SHIPPED

Premium bumper is warranty for 5 years, everything else chrome is six months. Anyone have experience with LMC chrome? Does it hold up? Seems like a pretty good value, almost TOO good. Any input is appreciated.

Can anyone recommend good chrome platers? I know it will be more expensive to have the existing original components plated, but I think it might be worth it in the long run, and it does keep the parts original (which, I think, is a good thing)

So far Ive contacted chrome pros plating out of texas, they wont touch the grill as they tend to crack and dont come out right (thats what they said anyway)

Quality plating out of Illinois says he'll do it, and with a 5 year warranty. I just sent him photos of the front of the truck, he hasnt gotten back to me on a price yet.

No answer at wells chrome plating of Ok.
