where do i come up with them?
I thought this would be a good topic of discussion...
what do you think the most difficult to find hudson part is, and why?
My Achilles heel is a lower grille bar for a 50 commodore/super. I have been looking for a NOS bar for many years, for the left side. I found several rights, but have never found a nice usable left. (anyone got one, hint hint.... )
Also, I noticed that the trunk "supermatic drive" emblem is very difficult. I lucked out there, but mine is not perfect.
Oh and of course 2 door stepdown trim any year, we all know that is pretty tough!
anyone else got a HTF part?

trunk rack for a '33 T8 since only sold with models having optional sidemounts which were few. Finding a good hood ornament or a crankhole cover falls right behind that, LOL!

I guess a 7x motor was not 'Production' available so I guess a rear door for any year Panel Truck would be very difficult to locate.
(Initially thought a Terraplane Utility Box would be difficult but recently seen one EBay)

Here are a few of the items on my list:
NOS 48-49 complete Commodore trunk handle.
NOS front floor mat for 48-49 Hudson.

I'll check on the head lite with the mag. center , I think my Hornet has one in it still - doubt its any use to me .

Where could I find a good or NOS RHD steering box for my RHD 55 Hudson Hornet?

That headlight was called a "bullseye". They were used by Mopar as OEM,so Birnbaum or Roberts may stock them.

One surprisingly difficult item to find is a new cylinder head temperature sender for '48-50 models. Apparently they used a different method for sensing than the newer cars. Not exactly sure what is meant by that... thermocouple versus thermistor?

Now this is good to know (for me anyway). I will need to hunt one down - just in case.
But I was thinking the tapered cone bearings for the rear axel units are rare. At $900.00 a side, it get's expensive to make one's 50 Pacemaker the best it can be.

go to a local meet and you will find these bearings are all over, good used ones. if you take care of them, they will last a long time.

I'd have to say the 34 Hudson Coupe hood ornament and base and the windshield trim. I've been trying to find these along with a good set of running boards for over a year, with no luck! Walt

you know, another great thread by hudsonkid... See how helpful my posts are? just for a novel thread like this, it seems like a whole bunch of people might actually find some parts they are looking for. Makes me feel good!
Oh back on topic, one more item we could add seems to be that flywheel for a wet clutch conversion that Rudy and Co, and Bob were all looking for. that 55-56 beast...
And, I saw a 52 pacemaker brougham, at the local Carlisle meet in October, I thought that long trim around the area where the roof meets the body, must be difficult to find, if you need it.... wow....

Pacemaker, don't believe all the hype, in march '07 I called a parts store about an hour from you and bought a pair of new 25877T bearings off the shelf. tax and delivered to my desk for less than 50 bucks total.

Go to my web site @ www.freewebs.com/hudsontech and click on the Tech. Bulletins, Vol. 1 link. Go to TS 77-4 - it tells how to install a 1951-54 type engine, 6 cylinder or an 8 cylinder head or engine in a 1948-50 car.

Yep.. this bulletin explains that when installing a '51-54 engine in a '48-50 chassis, you need to make the hole in the newer cylinder head bigger to accomodate the older temp sender. I discovered all this when installing the '52 308 in my '49 Super Six. The tech bulletin also explains that the senders are different in the newer cars... but still doesn't explain what exactly that difference is. I'd be willing to bet that one type uses a thermocouple and the other uses a thermistor... but I can't prove it or figure out which is which.
When hunting for replacement temp senders, I can usually find the '51-'56 ones, but haven't had any luck finding NEW '48-50 units. I've PM'd Clutch Guy to see if indeed these are available.

You lucked out there! the parts guy probably looked at the 25877 and the 25877T, and assumed one superceded the other, and you got them for the 25877 price. The 25877T bearings really ARE nearly $800.00 EACH, no hype about it, just fact. You got REALLY lucky with having a non-observant parts guy waiting on you!
Either that, or you GOT 25877 bearings, instead!

A hard-to-find item, at least for the '37 cars, is the crank hole block-off trim piece for the grille, and jacks for early cars seem to be pretty scarce.
