Minor setback, (I hope.....)

I promised several of you guys that I would report back on the success of my duel exhaust modification on my '36, and it's comming...but so is Christmas. Got the exhaust manifold back (looks good, by the way see pics) but I had the head removed to replace some broken bolts and replace gaskets. Removed the oil pan, cleaned out what looked like 30 years worth of crud, rebuilt the H20 pump, and oil pump. All new gaskets, new belt and radiator hoses.

While putting on the bottom radiator hose, the outlet casting BROKE OFF! Now I have my radiator removed and will see if it is repairable. I don't have a good feeling about this as the casting is so rusty and thin I don't know if it is repairable. Guess I'll find out this week. Anyone know of a replacement radiator for this car?

The split Manifold looks Great. I bet it will bark now...

You may be able to have a new (non Cast) curved outlet soldered into the bottom tank by a radiator shop. I have had inlet/outlets moved on a lot of my radiators and work well..

You (may) want to consider upgrading the core to the modern fin type discarding the old honeycomb and (maybe) install a pressure cap system. (I use a 7lb cap)

If worst comes to worse I may have an extra radiator..

Yes a good radiator shop should be able to put a brass or steel outlet on your radiator, not the end of the world!

Looks good. Do you have a photo of the header pipes and their connection and routing?

Are you altering the summer/winter valve in the middle part of the manifold?

I've got a Ford tractor radiator { was either a 6000 or 7000 series } in my 37. Twice as thick, top outlet a bit diff but just used a diff hose. Only had to redo the brackets on the radiator and she sat right in.

Has anyone ever made headers for a 202? The exhaust ports are on the side of the motor similar to the 232/262/308 family.

I had a guy in SoCal build me a new rad for my '40 using the stock shroud. He upgraded the inlet and outlet pipes, replaced the filler neck and rerouted the overflow tube. The system now holds 5 psi pressure. (Not a pressurized system B4). Result is a stunning improvement (it's never run over 180 since) and nobody has yet noticed its not stock...cost $295. :cool:
