Another Rear Shock Bolt Question

I am finally getting the last shock done. The rear upper nuts and bolts were pretty rust welded. But once off, the right cleaned up nicely. Still working the upper left.

Both the right and left were put in with the nut on the driver's side.

Is there any engineering reason for this? Would it be OK to reinstall the driver's side rear shock with nut on the inside?

Pacemaker 500,I believe that the bolt is shouldered and will only go in one way.If not,the bolt can be installed as you chose.

I did notice it being shouldered. I did not think to try the upper right in the opposite manner. I will try it once I get the upper left off (hopefully tomorrow).

I was afraid there mgiht be some special need for threads facing a certain way like lug nuts on some cars.

Got it! The bolt does only go in one way due to the shoulder bolt.
