Hello. I am brand new to this site. I just took ownership of a 1967 Pontiac LeMans. I am trying to find out the options that this car came with. I have been told that the cowl tag tells all that info, but haven't been able to find it anywhere. I want to know what engine, transmission, rearend, color, a/c, seats, etc. Basically, I want to know if what is in the car now is original. Thanks in advance for any help.

What you need to find is the build or some call it the broadcast sheet. That will tell you what you want to know. This can be located in various places, like, under a seat stuffed in the springs, under the carpet or under the dash someplace. Back when I prepped cars for a Mercury dealer I used to throw these away if they were just laying on the floor of the car. I was lucky to find mine when I did the upholstery and it was under the drivers seat.

The cowl or body tag will tell you build date, model year, series (GTO, Lemans), assembly plant, trim (color and type), and paint color.

The VIN number will tell you: Division (Pontiac, Chevrolet), series (Tempest, Catalina), body style (2 or 4 door), Year, assembly plant and production sequence.

Hope this helps
