I started our 54 hornet today with the fuel pump and gas tank that belongs on the car for the first time. It took quite a few trys before the engine
stayed running. Well all of a sudden the car started to move ahead about
a foot then it would stop. I didn't have the e brake on and no power brakes
for the wife to step on. When I hooked up the shifting linkage I made sure
the lever was in neutral and turned clevis on shifting rod from steering coluum
to fit lever on tranny. SCARRY any ideas.I forgot only 5 yrs since I took the car apart Where does the wire that comes out of the end of steering box
horn wire go. neutral safety switch for back up lights go. Does it matter how the 2 wires hook up to the neutral safety switch.

Thanks I have learned a lot here. IT RUNS IT RUns

Duncan

The adjustment of the transmission requires that the TVI and shift levers be set according to the transmission book and the shift lever installed as a secondary action. The throttle linkage is connected to the transmission and if there is binding or the set up in out or alignment the transmission linkage begins to engage.

Send me an email via CCC email connection with your email address and I will send you a 54 Hudson wiring diagram.

Good Luck

If there are only two connections on the neutral safety switch (some of these switches have connections for backup lights as well), it doesn't matter which wire goes to which terminal.

The wire coming out of the bottom of the steering box is the horn wire, coming from the horn button or ring assembly. It goes to the horn relay. Horn relays typically have one terminal that's for a "bullet" connector. That's the one for the horn button wire.
