Hello from Sweden!

Need help with my starter ring gear/flywheel. The starter ring gear is loose and spins around the flywheel. Is it possible to get it back in place and look it there? It is a Hudson super six -49.

Yes, it is possible to either pin it in place, or get it welded on, but it would be far better to get a new ring gear shrunk on.

Les Pendlebury has them I believe, - HEThuddy42@optusnet.com.au (Leave off the HET at the front of this email address). Les has lots of NOS Hudson parts in Sydney Australia. Plus probably Dale Cooper, Dave Kostanseck, Al Saffraih, Ken Amman, and Kanter. I have a spare one hanging on the wall, which I am keeping for my Hornet, sorry! the same ring gear was used from '34 thu '54, all 8's and sixes, except for '32-'35 Terraplane.

Only one caveat. The automatic transmission cars use a different ring gear.

Hello Emerald, I had the same problem with my '50 Commadore years ago. I had mine welded in the car. Took it to a welder that had a fork lift and he got under the Hudson and did his welding. Worked great for years, replaced it when I had the Trans out last year. A fast fix , that laster for 18 - 20 years.
