Black Satin Paint

Just gave my '51 Hornet a couple quick coats of flat black paint to help clean it up for the time being, since it was three different colors and was pretty rough around the edges. Just thought I'd share some progress pics

Progress? technology wise - sure, but looks and styling-wise the design schools these days are not inspiring at all - too much plastic, the designers can't pick a style round or straight lines - pick 1 please!

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone! I used Hot Rod Flatz paint, which turned out looking better than I thought it would.

That and John Deere Blitz Black work great! Probably what I'm going to use on the '48, when the time comes.

When you look at those pics side by side it's pretty pathetic. In general, most of the newer stying does nothing for me. The stepdown lines sure are classic.

I'm right there with ya - everything looks the same these days, import or domestic. Even when they come up with a retro car - I'm only slightly interested until I really get a look at the lack-o-chrome and the over-abundance of plastic.

Gas Mileage 17 mpg City / 26 mpg Hwy

That looks pretty close to Hudson specs from 60 years ago!

That is sad, bearing in mind that almost all stepdown models weigh less and get better gas mileage than that, have better styling and more interior space. I feel bad for Detroit......and ALL new cars. It's embarrasing! Maybe it would help if some of those companies had in-house Engineering historians. hehe

yes, it was pretty easy to shoot. The only thing I realized is that you've really got to mix the heck out of it, since some of it tends to solidify on the bottom of the can. Overall though it was a fairly smooth process.
