Is there anyone living around the Jacksonville area available to look a car for me? I'd be happy to pay your gas and time. The area code is 32063.

It was the two tone blue coupe that was just on e-bay. Sounds like a nice car. I really am not comfortable laying out some serious cash without seeing it in person or having been seen by someone. The ad said new engine and when I asked about when it was rebuilt, he said it had never been rebuilt but just repainted. Nice guy but thats a big discrepency. I suspect it may have been an oversight as he could have just as well lied about it being a new engine. He's had it for 14 years, new tires, redone interior (original style), newer brakes. I suspect that the fuel tank may need to be redone as he mentioned that it had a clogged fuel filter at one time. Makes it so much easier if someone knows the car and can vouch for it.

Was that the auction with one picture and little narrative? If so, I think his starting bid was $15k. Anyway, you're right to reach out to someone in the area to give the car a thorough inspection. Although you mention that some work has been done, some remains. The gas tank is a given. However, a 60 year old engine that hasn't been rebuilt...I'd be careful on that one.

That was the one. Exactly what I thought, How long can an engine last.... that's an expensive rebuild to farm out. Almost no info was given. I had to ask him for more pic's. Car needs to be looked at. He is 2,400 miles away...

I am an OB member and since I don't attend all the meets, I can't think of ever seeing the car. I did go through my stored pictures and didn't see it. I think I would have remembered it for sure..I live about 196 miles from Jville. When I saw the Ebay auction, I wrote to the seller telling him/her I was also a Florida Hudson Owner and asked who the owner of the beautiful car was. I didn't get a reply. Considering my 100% feedback and representing myself as a fellow Hudson nut, Thought I would get at least a short note. Even if it was being represented by another party, a reply would certainly be in order. Sometimes silence speaks volumns.

I tend to be skeptical of Ebay. If I am looking at a collectible/antique car online, I go through something like Craigslist and keep looking locally. This way I can physically go inspect the car myself.

I don't disagree. Geographical due diligence can cost you a few bucks but when you are looking at hard to find Hudson models, you don't have any choice but go to where to car is.

That's true, especially if you live in the rust belt. Then, you have to look out of area for a car that was brought in from a better climate zone. However, there are always exceptions.

There is a listing in the HET club roster for that car (Brown). There are also two other members listed in Jax as well (Baldwin, Davis). Check your roster and try giving out a call to them. They might know the car...
