Went to a job today (Lakewood Calif.) and met a very nice young lady in her mid 80's I would guess. She had one of those berlap desert water bags hanging in her garage and asked if she would like to sell it. She said no it was her husbands and thought it must of been a keep sake for her. I said it would be for my 1929 Hudson..She said HUDSON ??, my family owned a Hudson dealership back in the old days in Coffeyville, Kansas named Lair Motor Co. We talked a little and she never said another word about that desert bag. LOL. Oh well..Ron

The old cars were the original recyclers. Pumped oil out onto the ground so it could soak in and be pumped out of the ground at a later date.....When I was a kid we used to pour used oil on the gravel road that ran past the house to keep the dust down..Now, You get into big trouble with the Government. (Big Fines and even Jail in some cases)

I remember that too. Maybe pouring used fry oil on the road is the solution. On second thought, you'd have every animal in the area licking the road. LOL
Ron, did you ask her if she had any old photos of the family's old Hudson Days or a story or two that may be of interest to the WTN readership?

When I was growing up in the 60's, we'd go to the cottage up in northern Wisconsin where we had a dirt road in front. We'd regularly apply gallon after gallon of used motor oil to keep the dust down. My grandpa (who owned the Hudson I have now) used to bring up several drums of the stuff at a time! ....wow
