Problem with getting off steering wheel

I am trying to take an old steering wheel off a 46 hudson super six. Got the 15/16 nut off but the wheel will not come off. It has many cracks in it and I hesitate to take a hammer to it. Any suggestions?? Thanks JR

Go back a few issues and you will see how to remove the steering wheel. By walt.
