I'd agree with that, Bill.

For the record, it seems a bit pricey because it's RM Auctions. The Steve McQueen adds some value as well. For 75-100K though, you ought to get the fender skirts. LOL.

This one sure looks like it needs to be freshened up, if not fully restored again. Even after you're initial purchase, it would take 25-30K for the restoration, if you do EVERYTHING possible yourself.

Well Bill You are one hell of a salesman considering Steve Mcqueen died in 1980.

Was this car up for sale last year? I remember seeing it somewhere? By the way, I notice that the air cleaners for this Twin-H are the filter and not the Oil Bath style. Is there a correct for specific years. i.e. Oil Bath for 1952 and 53 with the air cleaner for the rest of the years?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I beleive the oil bath type filters were an optional upgrade for "heavy duty" use

This car wasn't running when it was sold on eBay, and truthfully, it doesn't look like a whole heck of a lot was done with it other than putting the engine back into it...

Bill - according to the first thread, you sold the car to Steve McQueen in 1979, about a year before McQueen died...

Hey, I vote we dig up old Steve every 10 or 15 years and sell him the same car all over again. I bet he'd buy a few motorcycles too !!!!!!!!!!

after doing this for 4 decades, the dates tend to blurr. I do remember Steve M and his several trips here in his old Chev pickup and a beard about 7 inches long. my wife fixed him lunch several times and we sat at my kitchen table and talked about many subjects. I sold him 5 Hudsons the 50 was never restored, just a good maintained original. HAPPY HUDSONING, and give an old man a break when it comes to remembering dates BILL A.

Knew you sold him more than one... If I were you, I wouldn't worry too much about the dates, those always get a bit fuzzy over the years.
Most times I can't remember what I had for breakfast, no less what went on or happened almost 30 years ago! LOL!

I ran into Jimmy Shine at the World of Wheels car show here in St. Paul last winter, and he said he once owned a '53 Super Wasp that was once owned by Steve McQueen. I responded "so it had some provenance, then. He said "some what?" I said "some provenance". He said "some what?" I said "some fancy history". He looked at me a long moment, then walked away. Didn't want to talk to me no more.

Maybe your question caused his brain to stop working and it needed to reboot. Was your breath minty-fresh? :D

As much as I love my Hudsons, I don't care if Pope John Paul II owned it, No Hudson is worth $100,000.00

I feel the same way could not give a crap who owned my cars before me. Makes zero difference. These guys are selling old rope. I would feel like a complete idiot saying "nice isn't it, Steve McQueen used to own it"

And McQueen being a true gear head would laugh his ass off at you as well. He would think these guys were idiots.

I agree - wouldn't make a 'hill of beans' difference to me...

Now, if I were selling it - that's a different story. If it makes it worth something more ($$) and is documented or can be proven, why not?

"Yup, that little brown spot on the back seat is the place Rin-Tin-Tin took a dump..". LOL! ;) :D
