is the 56 308 engine worth taking a look at?

Is it Hudson-related? Does William Shatner over-act? Is Britney Spears over-rated?

Sure, why not. The 1956 models had hydraulic lifters. If you could pick it up for $200.00, maybe the guy who paid over $400.00 for Twin-H linkage on eBay would want another set. :D

What a plan! What a plan! One never knows.

Still no bids the last time I checked.

I was sort of thinking about what would be involved in a ~1750 mile road trip over the Christmas holidays.... ;)

Starting price is $200 (reserve not met), with a BIN of $1,000.

From the description, this appears to be the later/last of the 308s built, and according to the description, it has the 12v starter and generator to go with it- as well as the double pulley on the harmonic balancer...

BTW - @$400 for the Twin-H linkage, somebody should 're-pop' them... Seems like there would be money to be made in it.

That engine looks like it sat in the rain for forty years. Probably a good anchor weight by now.

Well, like these guys pointed out, it does have the double groove crankshaft pulley, a Twin-H setup, and a 12V starter. If you could get it for ~$400 you could make your money back (or more) just on those items.

Just MAYBE it's a decent block and it would have the valve reliefs of the later engines. If it wasn't so far away I'd probably gamble on it- not for $1k but for something less.

I'd like to use in the 51 p-maker rather then the 327 I built for it. Oh well, I'll bid.
