I have a '36 Series 62 sedan, but what I REALLY want is a '36 Terraplane pickup - anyone know of any available? Condition not important.....
I saw that one on ebay last June and should have gone for it.....

'36 was the first year for the 3/4 ton (real man's PU). Also, along with '37, probably one of the best-looking. They are out there, but surely not as prevalent as '46-'47. If that's what you really want, I'd say next one that comes along, don't wait for a better opportunity later. Get it while you can. Find out who bought the one on E-Bay and keep tabs on it. More projects get started than finished.
PU's back then were purely utilitarian. Folks didn't use them as regular everyday drivers the way they are used nowadays. For that reason, PU's were often used heavily, and didn't have the life expectancy that many cars did. Also, because they were commercial vehicles, not as many were made, so even fewer examples exist.

Rocky, I'm in Fl and don't have my truck list on my wife's laptop, but should be home by the 10th. All I have here is current members.
I have a list of a hundred or so former members who had trucks and have dropped out or died. I'll see what might be available and you can check them out.
I have a 36 mod 62 4 dr as well.
The Green one is mine and the Yellow one is the only other one in NYS owned by the Lamb's.

People always want what they don't have. I have a 47 Commodore 6 and I love it, but I think the 36 Terraplane 4 door sedan is the best looking car ever. I should've bid on one on E-Bay as well, but I'm in Texas and it was in Washington. If I could find a basket case I'm pretty patient and could put it together but they are hard to come by as well. About as hard to come by as money is nowadays.

It doesn't do you much good now, but Art Healy had two '36 pickups for sale back in about 2003, in upstate New York. He had listed them here at the Forum (and in the WTN) I think. They both were condition 5, but two could easily have become one. Wonder who bought them and what they did with 'em?

Drag racing with wire wheels
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey All, I'm looking *far* into the future, but figured I'd ask this question while I'm still thinking about it. My upcoming project (whenever I get it back from the bodyshop and can get working on it) is a '36 Terraplane pickup, and whenever I get it done it's going to have an upgraded drivetrain* and could very well see some track time. So with that said, is it advisable to drag race with wire spoke rims all-around, or would that be asking for trouble? I could just see the right launch, or too much power coupled with great traction ripping them apart if the conditions are right.
*current drivetrain plans consist of a Hudson 262 or 308 with or without the Twin-H, coupled to a t56 6spd manual, and whatever rear-axle fits. The rims would probably be around 6" in width (the front fender spare tire well can fit a 7" wide tire & wheel combo max), and will most likely be using only street tires - I want to have a little fun with it, not break everything possible.
So would I have need to worry , or am I just being overly cautious?
Thanks,
Mike

Yea, no, sorry - can't talk me out of this one. It took me 8 years to find a '36 pickup, and I jumped on this one when I saw it - eventhough it was on the other side of the country. I was aiming for a '34 or '35 truck, but try to find one of those if you think '36's are hard to find.

What, pray tell, is a Commadore V6. Hudson didn't make no bent engines to my knowledge.

Hudson didn't, but he might be talking about a Holden (Australian GM) Commodore . . .
