stepdown Power steering

I'm looking for parts to add power steering to a 54 Hudson Hornet. Is there a way to add or install a modern unit if I can't find original parts?

You might want to talk to Walt Mordenti. He put P/S in his 53 and if I remember right it is rack and pinion but don't hold me to that ;) He does though have P/S from some later vehicle for sure.
