I know this topic has been covered before but I haven't found an answer to the following. Can you raise the hinges slightly on a 53 stepdown?

I've looked in the body manual and the mechanical procedures manual and also searched the forum. Most of the information covers sagging doors (bend the hinges to fix it) or gaps at the top or bottom (spring the door in to fix it). But I haven't found information about raising the door at the front. Mine drags on the threshold plate near the front.

Can the hinges be raised by loosening the screws and jacking the door up?

Yes, they can. There's about 5/16" travel room on the hinge/A-post. Hopefully, this will solve your problem. IF NOT, you may have a much more serious issue.

Thanks Russell. I will give it a try. 5/16" should be plenty.

By loosening the door hinge bolts doors can be tilted up and down. Do all adjustments with the striker plate removed so you can see when it is squared with body. Walt.
