That is funny. Looks like a Packard and a 57 Hudson that met in a San Francisco bath house....

Tom.

To post a link you can click on the Advanced thread response and then look at the icons and you'll see one that looks like the Earth with a pretzel in front.

Click on that one and cut-n-paste the link - click ok and you've just pasted a link into your response.

A "frame-off" restoration, when done properly, is not cheap by any means. If it were done by a reputable shop in Ca. it was down right expensive. I wish they had shown undercarriage views. That would let you have a hint to the quality of work done. I'm not into the "Hashes", but that's one nice looking car, for a Hash.

A prime example of what not to spend your money on- a full restoration of a car with virtually no demand. And a 4 door, at that. "What was he thinkin'?" The Hashes seemed to get more bizarre each year, and it was probably a blessing that they were discontinued in '57, because the more junk they hung on them, the worse they looked.

"And a 4 door at that." I guess if all you want to build are cars you can make big bucks on then you should stay away from 4-doors. As a point of interest I think the pecking order goes from convertible to hardtop then fast back and on down the line.

Funny thing, most of the coach built custom Hudsons are 4-doors. The late 20's Biddle and Smart cars are some of the most beautiful built. It is hard to find a better looking car than a Hudson 8 from 1932 and most are 4-doors. I am not sure that I have seen a Railton that was not a 4-door--and then what about a dual-cowl pheatons--they only came in 4-doors, as I remember. I guess my point is that even if the "Doc" Hudson coupes dominated NASCAR there were a few good race winning 4-doors? Funny thing, I love them all.:):)

I was thinking more of the 50's models- Coupes, hardtops and especially convertibles seem to have much more value than the more common 4 door models. Its important to keep our apples and oranges straight. Will concede that the 20's and 30's custom built models are a different story, but don't think anyone will ever mistake a 4 door Hash for a Biddle and Smart.

Postscript: just looked at the post "34 from New Zealand"- now theres a 4 door I could get behind. . .
