View Full Version : Insuring '65 Shelby Cobra Replica?

Here is my dilemma. My dad built a '65 Shelby Cobra big block 427 kit car in 1989. Unfortunately, he passed away two months ago. I would like to drive the car next summer, but don't want to do so uninsured since I will stick out like a sore thumb to any cop...I'm only 21 years old and surely look out of place in the car (plus I am a cop myself and I guess I have to set the example :) ). Insurance is required here in the state of Colorado. The problem is that every classic car insurance agency I've found so far will only insure drivers over the age of 25.

I will only need insurance for about 3 months next summer before I'll be moving out of town (and the vehicle will stay behind). Can anybody suggest a good company that will insure me...preferably on a temporary basis (i.e. not 6 months)?

I have never been involved in an accident of any kind and have no traffic tickets. I have spotless credit as well.

Thanks.

Even though American Collectors Insurance cannot insure you, give them a call...I am sure they can refer you to a company that can.

Did you ever find anyone who could cover you?
