I watched the Barrett-Jackson car auction last night. A guy bought a car for $3,000,000. It was a 1954 Oldsmobile F-88 GM Concept Car. Anyway,he said that it was going to the Gateway Colorado Auto Museum. I have Googled that phrase(and a few variations)and nothing comes up   . I have tried contacting Barrett-Jackson to no avail. If anybody here knows anything,PLEASE POST!!!!!!! :)

I'm guessing that the car is going to a small obscure auto museum near where he lives. Gateway is a small place, relatively speaking. So I'm guessing that the museum is not really large, is probably one of those small places by the side of the road and needs people to come visit, and money. But that is one nice piece of a car. Damned! Good luck finding the museum and that car.

reattadeb,
I know this is several months after your inquiry but just came across it while doing some research for a news article I'm working on. The museum has not been constructed yet. It is due to be opened in the Fall of 2005. It will display the personal collection of several hundred classic cars by Discovery cable mogul John Hendricks, whose agent purchased the car. The car will have it's own room in the museum.

Just a message to clear things up; Regarding Oldsmobile Show Car that is going to Gateway Auto Museum in Gateway, Colorado: First of all, you all had better go take a drive to Gateway, as it is now under construction. You would not believe what you will see.
Kind of reminds you of how the Indians build these enormous casinos so fast and so big BEFORE anyone has objections!
Well, this little town is in for a big surprize. There is a Community Meeting this week or next week, and I can only wonder who is left in this community? And, who will be forced to move out once this thing gets going!
So far, the only restaurant (Mom and Pop) has closed down, and too bad, they served the best pies around.
So, please have a look, and your eyes will definately bulge out on this one!
The car will have a good home, and believe me, you will have a hard time finding the car through this maze of stucco buildings that resemble a town.
Drive up the road abit, stop at one of the two gates with the sun on it, and you will see a home and compound that excells anything this side of Montecito or Hope Ranch in Santa Barbara.
Ciao!

Hi all,

Has anyone gone to this muesum yet? We are currently visiting my wife's grandparents in Montrose, CO (1 hour East of Grand Junction). Gateway will be about 2-2.5 hours away.

We were thinking about going on Monday (6/12/06) Any feedback asap would be appreciated.

Thanks,
