1958 ford ad chevy tail lights

Has anyone heard a tale that either the ford or chevy 58 model car had 3 tail lights so the other one added it but had to do it so quickly that it was not a working light? we are trying to discover which one did which. Thank you!

Ellen, Never heard that one before, but for what its' worth the 58 Ford had two tailights per side as did the 58 Chevy . However the 58 Chevy wagon had only one light per side while the 58 Impala had three per side!
