I really hate it when a company leaves a bad taste in your mouth and leaves you leary of other companies that do similar work or provide similar services. I gave my '72 Monte Carlo rear bumper to Jack Baker from Nu-Chrome at a Carlisle show. He took the bumper and almost $400.00 of my hard earned money. I told him I wanted the bumper bolts shaved and I would send them my front bumper for the same treatment as well as the guards. I also sent my brackets to make sure they could be installed with the studs in place. He gave me a receipt, but I didn't notice at the time that it had no job no. on it. After about six weeks I called and they said they weren't done, but they worked on the squeeky wheel principal. I should call when I wanted them done in like a week or they would call me when they were done if that came first. I called every few weeks after that and always got the same answer. I always told them I wanted them done now before I hung up. During that time I bought a house and my mom passed, so I was busy for a while. I contacted them again and they said they couldn't find my bumpers or my info in their system. They say they threw the bumpers away. I think they lost my info, had good bumpers without owner info so they chromed them and sold them. I have no proof of that though. Anyway, over a year later and I still have no bumpers. I had to buy brackets and guards off of Ebay myself since they expressed no interest in trying to get any. I am waiting for them to get bumpers. Every time I call I get either no return calls to my messages or the run around or even hung up on by Jack Baker when I told him that they should have gotten my replacement bumpers by now. The owner, Don, has no interest in this either. He told me he doesn't deal with the parts being done or the customers. I should think that an owner not only should get involved when there's a problem that hasn't been resolved after this much time, but they should WANT to get involved in order to get the issue settled. I told him that his employee that he keeps pawning me off on is doing nothing to resolve this. Jack Baker even called me crazy because I told him that I wanted them to get replacement bumpers, ship them to me, refund my money and reimburse me for the parts I had to replace myself so that I could be back to where I was before I ever heard of them and find another chromer that cares about the customers that are providing them with their paychecks. I know any one person can have a problem with a company, it's bound to happen. What concerns me is the way Nu-Chrome is treating customers, especially ones that are having problems with their company. Sorry for going on so long, but I think their potential customers should be warned. I have also been in touch with other customers of theirs that got back incomplete orders and shoddy chrome work.
