Wasn't this supposed to be Hudson's version of a compact car?
Very 'forward' thinking, putting "Twin-H" power into a Jet...
From my recollection, 'Brand X' had a habit of underpowering their compacts - at least until it became obvious that the buying public wanted "something more"...

Unfortunately from my research on the internet and books I have read, the Jet is what ended Hudson. They put the last of their resources into it instead of redesigning the stepdown. The Jet was not that great looking and never sold well. This was all long before me, but that is what history says. I am not crazy about them. If this was a 54 Hornet coupe with a stick, I would be on the road to Vegas now.

I was just commenting about it being a compact - in the 50's - with appears to be a stock "Twin-H" engine. Would much prefer a nice stepdown coupe - but as Patrick says "Who wouldn't?":)

I love the stepdowns but these Jets with the Twin H go like stink. My buddy has one. After a drive with him I had a few more grey hairs. Small nice to drive and economical. I would get one to drive over to my Hornet. I hate to walk the 30 feet the garage.
This one looks pretty nice. I would get it if it wasn't in Vegas. little to far for me right now.

I'm glad it got some OK money. Not the most popular styling to say the least but I hear that they were a great car (tell that to Edsel!). Niels

Thats a great deal. You have to have a ride in one with Twin H its a hoot to drive and pretty economical if you don't lead foot it. Like I said if I saw one like that close to me I would snap it up. Its a Hudson. We love em' all.....

That looked like a pretty good buy for a Jet...nice, straight, and Twin-H, to boot! If it had been a 2-door Jet, it would've probably ended up in MY garage!

Amusing to read what some of you post about reading and hearing about Jets. Makes me realize how old I am getting, Heck, I was there when they came out and yes they did run good. Neat little cars, only starting to get appreciated now.

I believe that most people would agree that the 50's cars were a time of excess and big style. I'm not too surprised that a compact car with relatively bland styling fell flat on it's face. Hindsight is 20/20. This is a car that just looks like a nice old practical car. As I posted earlier, I'm sure that they were nice cars and just my opinion but I can't see it turning many heads when it came out. It is a Hudson and that does makes it a special car.

I drove home my new Jet Tuesday night. Runs like a champ, leaks tranny fluid like crazy though. I imagine it will just need new seals and gaskets, I haven't had time to really examine the situation. I got a kick out of reading the posts about my car though, and I look forward to participating on this forum.
