Since I saw someone mention it in another thread, I figured it was finally time for me to ask.

My 25 has an aluminum body on it. Probably the reason it has no rust. :D

Can anyone tell me the significance of the aluminum body, were there a lot of them made, are they more collectible, worth more, etc?

Just figured it was time to finally find out.

Thanks.

It's a 4 door coupe. You can see pictures of it on my website.

The coupes, broughams, 7 passenger sedans, Club sedans, Landau Sedans, and phaetons all had alloy bodies from 1923 thru 1929. These bodies were made by Biddle & Smart, Amesbury Mass. As Hudson were flat out producing their own standard series cars and farmed the custom bodies out. Briggs also made bodies in '28 and '29 for the roadsters, and some Hudson town sedans, but these were steel over wood frames. I understand that some early '27 Essex also had alloy bodies, but I don't know who made these. Probably B. & S. They looked the same as the steel Hudson-bodied version.
