This is a bit of a rant. I have been a member of this forum for several years, but three times now over the years my computer has lost (via crashes) my long-in info.
The first time this happened, I could never get it to work, and had to start over with a new username.
The second time, I managed to get my old name back only by changing the spelling a bit.
This last time, I requested a new password, which took about a week to get, but I never could make it work. The forum would say I needed a new password, and to go to such and such an address to get it, and I would, but that password would never allow me to log on.
During the second ordeal my wife, who is very good with computers, helped me get on, and remarked that the process was counter-intuitive.
After repeated attempts, this time I finally had to drop my old username, and start over.
I know I am not very computer smart, but why does this have to be a such a hassle?

You ought to loose access to Yahoo or ebay. I had to change my log-in on here one time - was a lot easier than other places.

Had the same hassle a couple of times. Wait 'till you change your email and forget your password. Only way to get back on is to email a temp password to your old email, which is of course, gone! Some of these guys worship at the shrine of complication.

How does one remove the horn button on a 1940 Traveler? The manual (Xerox copy) shows a screw from behind, but mine has no such screw. Perhaps that is for the fancier wheel. I am afraid to push and twist the button. Help!

I think if you get in touch with the forum moderator he should be able to help - I'd be more concerned about the computer crashing all the time these days that should not happen.

How long has it been since the box was flattened and the OS re-installed?

You can also choose the option to "not remember" the user name and login (this writes a cookie to your machine so that when you browse the site it can identify you) and then have to login everytime thus you wouldn't forget the sequence!

In fact that may be your issue - multiple cookies on the machine that are conflicting with one another. Ask Jon about that one...
