I am looking for an inexpensive car cover for a stepdown. The car is stored inside, so it is mostly a dust cover that hopefully will also prevent some accidental scratches and things. Has anyone here had experience with a certain brand and/ or size?

Thanks,
Matt

You may already know this but don't put the cover on when there is any moisture on the paint - it will bubble!

I saw in a body shop trade rag these new "plastic bubble" type covers that are inflated with a small fan which would keep moisture out and not actually touch the car and still allows the car to be viewed for around 250.00-300.00

I don't know if that solution is practicle for you but I thought they held some promise...

Matt, I have a California cover cheap. It's custom made lite fabric with corduroy in side. Perfect for inside storage. 150-175 .Good luck

GreggThey make some nice covers, and even have the 'balloon & fan ' type Dan is talking about.

Advise:
- Make sure you know what you expect from the car cover & how you intend to use it - indoor or outdoor use, or a combination... Also, you need to look at where the vehicle will be - If it is under trees that drip sap (or near them), I believe they have covers that can provide protection from that as well...
- Look at any 'optional' exterior items you have on your car (spot lights, clearance lights, visor, antenna, etc...). You may need to order a 'custom' cover...
- Don't go the 'cheap' route with a car cover ($39.99 'specials'), it isn't worth the heartache.

If price is your main concern, I've used the cover that COSTCO sells (about $50 as I recall). Its a soft all-weather universal fit (size XXL). I would not use it outside, but for indoors it seems OK. I've had it for 3 years now. I would not recommend the $30 nylon type- they scratch, snag, and generally are not very good (also they don't offer any protection if something should bump the car).

Moisture really isn't a concern. The car is stored in my attached garage which is nice & dry. I have no intention of keeping it outside.

Thanks to all for the advice,
Matt

I got a couple for my stepdowns from Advance Auto (Maybe Auto Zone) for about $22 on sale. Just right for inside storage.

Kanter's soft covers for inside use are decent choices as well. Fit and quality are good. Have one on my '47 and Hornet
