i have a 55 chevy with a six cyl.i like to put in a v8.like to knowwhat engine i can use using the front mounts and side tran mount it a three speed stick .

Smitty, you can use almost any small block engine. The front of some later blocks have the bosses where the mounts bolt on, but they aren't drilled or tapped. You can drill the block for those mounts using a bottom tap to thread them. Easiest way would watch the engines oyur looking at for the bolts in the front. Example my 87 small block has those bolts and holes.

Smitty, sorry to report the flywheel will not. After 62 the V8 and 6's used the same flywheel, but not before. The tranny will work.

Yep, did it myself. It's not stock, but it isn't chopped up either. It's got a 350 from an 87 Vette with tunedport fuel injection, 700R4 overdrive transmission and 3.08 positraction rear end. I think if I put a set of stock wheel covers on it and a set of wide whites, it would appear stock from 25 feet. Until I started it of course, ha ha.
