I have a question about the interior of my 53 Super Wasp Sedan. The interior was redone back in the 70s with the correct material, but was done by someone that was even less experienced than myself. I am redoing it in a semi-custom method, but leaving the trim stock and the basic theme stock. I have the stainless pieces that hold the ashtrays and cover the "step-in" in the door, but from a couple of photos on other models I have seen, I am missing the vertical pieces that fill the gaps on each side of the upper door panel. These pieces look to be triangular and run up on each end of the afore metioned stainless piece. I don't know if I am describing this where anyone understands, but does someone have a photo that shows a stock door interior? Thanks greatly,

Bob

Bob, I have a 53 super Wasp coupe--I think the SuperWasp did not have the stainless trim on the doors, at least in the coupe. I think the stainless where the ashtrays are was found in Hornets or the other high end cars. I can't be sure on this, I will go look at my car tomorrow in the daylight, but I think that I am correct. Good luck with your car.

Dave, You may be right, but what called it to my attention was the 51 Commodore that was on an earlier thread. That car has the pieces I mentioned. I also see the screw holes in the door where the vertical pieces should go. I appreciate your help.

Dave is correct ... Stainless door panel inserts for ashtray installation were not part of the SWasp standard interior package.. they were indeed for Commadores or Hornets... top of line models. The verticle stainless was also used on high end models. This being said... Hudson would order what you wanted and put the changes into the car at the dealer... and ... it is true that as the car passes from owner to owner... changes will be made to fit that owners preferences... that is how my Wasp got stainless in the doors....LOL

I can't speak to the Super Wasp/Hornet thing, but the photos I have seen, including factory photos, seems to indicate that the stainless was on '52 and then was removed on '53 even for Hornets but re-appeared on '54. My '54 Super Wasp has it.

O.K. Sounds logical to me. I have the horizontal stainless pieces. Does anyone have any extra vertical pieces that they would like to sell?
