I'm detaing my engine bay while redoing the top end of my 72' Cutlass. I don't want to put it back together with ratty looking nuts and bolts and locating new in is either dificult, an unneeded expence or in some cases I've ordered and rececived incorrect hardware.
I've already cleaned them up useing solvents or wire brushing. What's the best recomended material & method for refinishing them. I couls paint the heads but I don't want the threads rusting up neither. What's my options? thanks for any ideas, simple or exotic. tededdzl@aol.com

Ted, locate a fastner shop in your area. I did and took one of each bolt I wanted to replace and got what I needed. I got stainless bolts to replace most of them. Of course if you want to stay correct for the year, the stainless may not work everywhere. I haven't tried, but you may even be able to buy black stainless bolts.
