Hey Piggy, You'll be better off to find parts from a car, which is identical from the cab forward. The truck frame is 7 inches longer so use bar stock to extend the brake cables. The truck brakes are 11 inch dia, borrowed from the Commadore 8.

If you're not in the HET club yet, suggest you join for $25/yr as there are lots of parts advertized in the club magazine as well as junk yards etc. Also a roster of Hudson people near you. Most of us have parts stashes. Go to home page, ie http://www.hudsonclub.org to join and link to other Hudson pages.

Feel free to email me at HETcramerlp@frontiernet.net (drop the HET) as I'm the club truck guru, driving a 47 and working on a 46 and would be glad to help you.

Welcome to the world of the most beautiful Truck made. I also own a 47 and have the online HETparts.com parts store. The store is at http://store.avaloncity.com/index.php and we have over 300 parts - most NOS. I also have a few extra truck parts that I have been doubling up one. I have a great radio that I am restoring the the look plus the plate and it goes in. I have a few extra chromed partsl like the spears for the side fenders and a set of fender lights out to the chrome gods. Drop me a line with what you need and vist the store.

Hello Frankie, and welcome to the world of Hudsons...
Everyone before me has summed it up pretty well. The 47 pickup was the last year a truck was produced & marketed by Hudson, and 46-47 are the most commonly found, with around 6000 trucks produced during those two years. I myself have a couple of '46 Hudson Pickups (see my 'Blue Goose' avatar, above), as well as a '39 - However, I have very little in the way of 'spare parts'.
There is very little difference between a 46 & 47, although most anyone that has been involved with them for very long can spot the difference - unless the truck in question has undergone a lot of parts exchange, replacement or has had modifications done. The most reliable way to tell the year is by the serial number of the truck.
Probably the most important thing to know is that the Hudson "Super Six" car of the same years are just about identical to the truck, from the doors forward, as are the cars from the Commodore series - nameplate variations, as well as a few options that the Super Six didn't have. The larger clutch and brakes that were standard on pickup came from the "Commodore Eight". The wheelbase of the trucks are a bit longer than the cars - 128".

There are quite a few 'threads' on Hudson Pickup trucks here, with a lot of good information. As the Hudson is an 'Orphan' marquee (no longer manufactured), it is sometimes more of a challenge to acquire the parts necessary for maintenance & repairs - not to mention rebuild or restoration. As indicated, joining & participation in the HET Club (http://www.hudsonclub.org/) as well as your local chapter (http://hudsonclub.org/hetchapters.html) will be beneficial both in the extensive knowledge of Hudsons, as well as helping you to find those elusive parts-n-pieces that you need for your truck.
This forum is a great start as well. Although we only represent a small (but growing) part of the "Hudson family", there is a lot of knowledge here - along with associations with other members who are not 'computer savy', and contacts that have been established & maintained over many, many years.

Please post some pictures, I'm sure everyone would like to see it, irregardless of the condition. As an example, here's my '39, which 'needs a lot of help & attention' -

Good luck with your truck -
