Although I didn't know Joe I am sorry to hear of his passing. Does his widow have any stepdown coupes in the collection that she is willing to sell? Please offer her my condolences and let me know.
Regrets,
John

Yes, he has several step downs, he has 1 convertible step down, (very rough but buildable)Mrs. Mahon wants to dispose of his cars at her own pace, whenever she is ready to do the step downs I will post them here, there is 2 pickups also.

Do you know if the car has overdrive ? And what would you say the car needs to be a solid #2 driver ?

J.C. Was a long time member of the MidSouth Chapter and we did not know of his passing. Sorry to hear of it. He was a loyal Hudson fan and club member.

No I do not think it has an overdrive, completion of the interior and trunk would, in my opinion make it a #2 driver, As you can see in the pix the exterior is done, some of the re-chroming is marginal.

Mrs. Mahon thinks the car is worth $12K, I do not know much about the price range of pre-48 models, If it was a step-down club at that price it would have already been gone(I'd own it) I will convey any offers from anyone or I will arrange to look at the car If any prospective buyer wants to look.

Here are a couple of online pricing guides -
The Gold Book -
http://www.manheimgold.com/
The Gold Book lists a driver from $8k, with an excellent example bringing $10k.
The NADA online Guide -
http://www.nadaguides.com/ClassicHome.aspx?LI=1-10-0-2111-3-102-26529&wSec=12&wPr=0&wPg=2002&
The NADA Guide doesn't break it down too far, but a driver is listed at bit over $12K, very close to the price that you've established.
From what I've seen - these 'guides' are just that, guides... The fluctuation in pricing is at times extreme, and the presentation/venue has a good/bad habit of determining what the going price will be - along with 'the heat of the moment', how badly the vehicle is 'wanted', and how many people want it.
You have a more than somewhat limited audience here. For a larger audience, I would suggest coordinating with Nada Poynter at hetads@comcast.net (http://us.f526.mail.yahoo.com/ym/Compose?To=hetads@comcast.net), who coordinates the classified ads for the WTN. Joe was a member of the HET Club & so is his widow, so there shouldn't be any problem getting this listed. Listings are at no cost, and will provide a substantially larger & more focused audience.
Here's Nada's address in case you need it:

 Let's see, if I read the Gold Book correctly, Bill Albright's just completed '52 Hollywood restoration (Albright No. 7 photo), at the show quality level it is, would go for $ 17,000. Seems a bit out of date, especially note S on collectability (not yet recognized). $ 8,000 given as value of a four door sedan of show quality. Wonder if Bill has any available at that price? Walt

WaltGood - glad to see that the meaning of my post was 'caught'... :D There is quite a disparity in pricing between 'pricing guideline' publications. There are many of them out there, and have yet to see any of them that are completely 'in the ballpark' with one another.

June 2006 Old Car Price guide has 46-7 coupes between $7600-8500 for #3 and $11900-13200 for #2 depending on model. OCPG seems to be off on actual current selling prices of Hudsons (especially stepdowns ) as they have not increased very much over the last few years, and the market has changed substantially. While noone may want to say it, this car also would have a great appeal to the street rod crowd with the great fat fendered coupe shape.
