Rare car meets bad fate in Russia

The following link will take the reader to a Russian web page that chronicals the demise of a rare 38 Hudson convertible. In my own way I am a live and let live person with the penchant to say ... your car do as you see fit. In this case the owners are Russian and the interesting thing about this picture collage is the cars being mated are both American origin. Obviously the chevelle was used to provide the replacement drive line.

Too sad to see a rare Hudson convertible lost as a hot rod project in RUSSIA!

The guys don't mentioned wether they got the car with the original motor or not. They are a customizing shop and therefore recommend upgarding to a more modern drivetrain. I like the front fender treatments personally.

Actually, I'm glad to see some custom cars in Russia. I once thought about opening a shop in the city where we own some property, but paying off the Mafia to open a business is very expensive these days. But there are many guys who would be interested in working on cars and off-road vehicles. But the winters are rather a bit cold there for me (we usually only go there in the spring or summer). And they still salt the roads in the winter. I'm trying to decide if I want to restore our '67 Volga or maybe buy something else over there.

I think we must remember that a Hudson over there doesn't have the same emotion to them as a Hudson purist here, just as an old Russian vehicle here wouldn't have the same emotions for us as it would for a Russian car nut. I've spoken with some custom cars guys in Norway and they seem like a great a group as some of the guys I've spoken with here. So, I give a thumbs up for any car nuts (purists or customizers) around the world and just maybe, if more people got into cars, it would mean less people killing each other around the world!
