The conv't is going to go next if I had to bet. The 51 Hollywood is as rare as Hen's Teeth...... I think that it's interesting that it's being sold by Auto haus in Ca and the car is in Ga. The interior looks how ? How many 51 Hollywoods could there be ?

Didn't sell. This guy really wants that $24,500 he had it for sale on the other site. Seems so far Doc Hudson is not affecting the Hudson sales.

I think the car is priced just where it should be if a person were to keep it. I know of a couple Hudson individuals who would want $35K for the same car. Also, rarity and desirability are two different things. Hollywoods are a bit more rare in production but I think Club Coupes sell better. They were the predominate racers. Personally, I like the lines better aswell.

The movie just came out last Friday but the hype for the movie started sometime ago. No one can deny values have increased significantly these last 12 months. It will happen. As Harry54 mentioned to me, when Barrett Jackson and the other big auction houses run a few pristine "Doc Hudson" Hornet Club Coupes across the block (and they will), BIG money will be paid for these cars and drive up all the rest. There are only a handful of ANY coupes available, it will be supply and demand.

Agreed, look what has happened with 60's and 70's american muscle cars on BJ. I am afraid to take my 68 442 anywhere. It's not nice looking but it is all there and a 4 speed car. Someone could steal it do a quick fix up and turn some big bucks. Don't be in such a hurry guys, if they get too valuable or desirable you will be afraid to take them anywhere.

Approximately 2,100 Hornet Hollywood coupes, and 550 ragtops made in 1951, according to my sources. FYI. :)

Second time round and it still did not sell. It didn't reach the level it did last time 20K wonder what is wrong here.

What's wrong is that the window for this car is closed with the reserve that this guy has. His reserve is probably to high , my guess is 25,000. If the reserve was 20-21 then all the people that were bidding up to 20,000 in the prior auctions would have been willing to really bid. My guess is that it would have traded between 23,000 and 25,000.

I saw this car on another site being sold for $24,500 I think by the owner. This dealer is trying to up it to get his cut. He has tried twice and failed. He might need to rethink his strategy and maybe mention Doc Hudson and Cars more LOL

I think the $20K was very fair for this car. Let's face the truth that while hollywoods may be rare models, The demand and eye appeal is very low. Hudson did not do a very good job with the design of a hardtop. It really looks like an afterthought and did not blend well with the 51-53 body. The 54 was without a doubt the best of the hollywoods as far as balance. (My opinion, of course) Convertibles and Coupes are going to see significant increases as the most desireable models and very limited availability.

I think that if I had a hollywood, I would look for a convertible cowl, and top assembly, and the rest of the trim..... :cool:
