Help Finding Out What My Car Is??

I recieved a car from a co-worker. A work in progress. He told me its a 1950 Dodge Wayfarer. It has a flathead 6. VIN # 97003770. Looking on websites and pictures I have a few doubts. It doesn't say wayfarer anywhere on the car. Has dodge badging. On some paperwork it says 1946 as well as 1950 in some. 2 door sedan. I just really want to find out what this could be. I was looking around and found some coronets? and meadowbrooks? looked quite similar. Any suggestions on how to find out exactly what it is. I tried VIN look up on the internet and it doesn't go back as far as 1950. Any Help/Suggestions would be appreciated.

I have also viewed pictures of a 1950 wayfarer and the rear tail lights are vertical as opposed my tail lights are horizontal

So, if your vehicle number is there, you probably have a 1950
In 1949 the Wayfarer numbers started at 37,000,101 and went to 37,058,328

Maybe posting the vehicle number or a picture will help.
Your number for a VIN is puzzling as I find nothing with those numbers.Where did you get that number?

The 1946 cars looked totally different to the 1950 cars... here's a couple of pics as a guide only...

I must admit, I don't know the name 'Wayfarer' except from much later models of utilities sold in Australia.

Dodge used the Wayfarer name in the US also, from 1949-1952. It was available as a roadster, convertible coupe, business coupe, six-passenger coupe, wagon, and two-door sedan. In 1953, when Dodge brought out their Hemi engine, the cars were totally restyled and the name dropped.

Also available in this same timeframe were the Meadowbrook and the Coronet.
