Working on the '51 Hornet Convert this morning and pulled the bail and canister off of the pump for the hydraulics. The canister has corroded through in a couple of places and leakes like a seive. Any suggestions on how to seal it up or does anybody have another can?

Also, on the can it says to use brake fluid in the system. I have used ATF and Hydraulic fluid before on Ford converts with no problems. What is the suggestion of fluid to use?

Thanks everybody,

Larry

I have changed all my convs to ATF, DEXTRON GM TYPE, WITH NO PROBLEMS. CANISTER CAN BE PATCHED WITH JB WELD, AND/OR THE SAME STUFF USED TO SEAL GAS TANKS, GOOD LUCK, BILL ALBRIGHT

One thing I recall from a note that came with a couple of new cylinders from Hydro-E-Lectric: DON'T use silicone brake fluid .... it has no lubricating qualities and will wipe out the pump.
