Hi to you all. This is my first post here so I feel I should include a little about myself before asking my questions. I'm near Memphis TN and enjoy most all makes of old cars and trucks. I've only dabbled in the old car/truck hobby the past few years and am just a shade tree mechanic but I'm working on that ;)
I'm knocking on the big 50's door so you could say I'm a late "bloomer" even though I have been "busting knuckles" since the late 60's (motorcycles.)
At the present time my vehicles of interest are a 50 Chevy 3100, first series 49 Dodge Sedan, 2 - 48 Dodge Sedan's, 76 GMC Sprint and the wifes 07 Mustang GT. I've been visiting the p15-d24 forum for a few years now and see one familier face here from that forum so I must be in the right place :)
I hope to visit and post here more often in the future as I know I'll be asking several questions about the 50 Chevy truck I just got about a month ago because it is not stock. I'm trying to get whatever casting number informaton I can for now so I can purchase the correct parts. I had a 50 Chevy truck abt 2 yrs ago,all stock, and let it get away from me but hope to hang on to this one for a long time.
I found this site while looking for casting numbers for the rear end on my 50 Chevy. The axle date code is H306 and the GM casting number is 3725899. I hope someone will catch this post and is able ID this for me.
My truck also has 283 with a 350 auto tranny that I'll be asking more about because I'm not familier with 283's. I've gotton the number off the 283's block but am still looking for the date code on it before asking anything about it. I'd really appreciate any and all information anyone would like to pass along and hopefully in the future I can do the same in return. Thank you for takng the time to read my post, Ed Griffin
