hey everybody, new to this site and just wanted to expand my knowledge. i just recently purchased a 1964 impala two door, hard top, automatic tranny on the column and a 283 engine. I just pulled the tranny and engine and found two different symbols on the heads. one is a triangle on a block and the other is a horseshoe shape on a block. i had a friend tell me that somebody mismatched the two heads. the previous owner could only tell me that he had not done any work to the engine, but used it to haul his camper. I am looking for a heads book for matching numbers that could help me and any knowledge from the classic owners of this site. I plan to drop in a modified 350 later on down the road, but i would like to know what was done to the 283. the car drives under normal and accelerated conditions with no probems. any help from u guys is needed and thank you.
