Do I understand you correctly that you are talking about cylinder heads and not exhaust manifolds on a Chevrolet?

If so, you must be referring to the heads of a 348 or 409 engine.

I have heard the old "double hump" heads called Camel Hump heads before and thats just a reference to the casting marks on the front of the head that many people use to identify early model performance cast iron small block heads. They were straight plug and either 1.94 or 2.02 intake valves If memory serves me correctly.

Yes you are absolutely correct. "Camel Hump" or "Double Hump" heads are early model "High" performance heads.
