Pre '72 specifications

Does anyone know where I can locate specifications for vehicles pre 1972? I have been interested in cars my whole life, but for the past few years I have really been interested in classic vehicles as a whole. Sure they are great to look at and drive, but how have cars come so far with their specifications?

I'm interested in finding a book or books that have documentation of these classics when they came off the show room floor. Thank you in advance for any help and information given.
