Hornet Generator output question

Have enerator question. At idle speed my generator is putting out 7 volts. When I increase the idle speed, the volts goes to 0. Is that correct. I don't think that is o.k. I have replaced the brushes but I think this means that the generator is shot.??

ARe you using a digital voltmeter? You must use an analog meter to check generator output.
