49 Hudson Business Coupe #'s?

Hello All:

I'm just curious if anyone would know what the production numbers are of a 1949 Hudson 491 Businessman's Coupe?

The only one I've ever seen is my own, and they don't seem to be listed anywhere, so I was just curious....

If anyone has any details, I would appreciate the information!

Unfortunately Hudson didn't leave any records giving a breakdown by body styles, or models. For example, serial number 101 (first off the line) could have been a Super Six, 102 a Commodore 8, 103 another Super Six and so on thru the run.
However, that said, there is a breakdown by model, that I have in my files, that says there were 91,333 Super Six models built in 1949. That chart is on my web site @

I also have a break down of monthly production, ie 1949 serial numbers 101 thru 2176 were built in October 1948, 2177 thru 20603 iin Nov. 1948 and so on. That chart is also on my web site under "Miscellaneous Tech. Bulletins". Maybe I should change that title. Hmmm
