What an extremely sad resto job that was done by an so called "business" on a classic 66, with a rare bench front seat in it, at least the owner had the seats done at a different shop, they look fantastic. Poor guy already has a quote of over 4000 to get the "newly painted and restored" 66 done the proper way, by a licensed body shop.

Seems this thread was too hot for Ford Muscle to handle, since the work was done by a so called restoration shop in Utah, the news is now on
http://www.utahstangs.org/forum/inde...howtopic=15543
As a Mustang owner, and have restored a few in my time, this is the most interesting reading,, if you read between the lines of it all, the owner got taken for a ride on this restoration, and not in his own mustang. Beware of falling into scam shops. I sure hope the guy gets his car finished by a legitimate shop, now that he has it back in his hands.

Update;
Seems both websites have pulled this story, the rumor is pending legal action. I'll keep you posted on the outcome.

I wish I had saved a copy on the puter, but didn't.
Where along the Columbia river are you located? My husband lived in the area for a time.

And just a little update... if those that had looked at the links I had posted above, which since have been deleted from the sites because of legal implications about the restoration job...
Check out the front page of Ford Muscle, under Member Images...
there's a pic there that clearly shows the illegal VIN stamping on the guys car, that was done by the so called "restoration" shop.

Why do people think they can get away with this kind of thing ? Pictures don't lie.

Here's a pic, on a 66, there are 3 Vins stamped in the inner fender aprons, 1 is visible on the drivers side, the others are hidden under the fender on the rear driver and passenger aprons. Not found until after the car was back in the owners hands, was the newly "restamped" driver rear Vin.

Legal update on the 66,, the owner of the "resto" shop has been charged with a felony, and other charges for having an unlicensed business, among various other violations among the Utah state laws also. Another update, and hopefully new pics of the car to follow soon.
