Default Help for me and my 52 Merc

Hello, I purchaced a 1952 Mercury Monterey and am doing my own body-off resto. I have searched and searched for different info regarding new upholstery for the interior, what bumpers and other items can be interchanged with other cars of the same era and have been coming up blank. I am not too computer saavy (cant find much doing searches), and it seems like my car is sort of a rare bird. I really would like to chew the fat with anyone that may have experiance with these cars so I can get some input on how to resto her correctly. I am going to complete this resto(mod) myself and want to learn as much as possible. I come from a motorcycle background, but want to get into the automotive end of things and just need some sound advice from pros like you guys.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Take care.

You might want to consider joining a club devoted specifically to your make of car. You will tap into a source for parts and technical information, as well as a network of fellow car owners who may be able to answer your questions. Possibly someone with a car just like yours, lives not far away, and would be happy to let you inspect their car and take photos of the interior.

Here's one Mercury club I found on the internet http://www.fmrcoa.org/index.htm . Here's another: http://www.mercuryclub.com/index.php . Possibly this second one is just a "web club", but you might try posting your question on its forum anyway.

Butcher, One of the easiest ways to find out what parts interchange with your 52 Merc is to obtain a Hollander interchange manual. The one you need is the 26th edition. In addition to what Jon said you can get valuable info on interchanges from the flat rate manuals published by Motor's . Both of these are available from time to time on ebay. Good luck with your searches.
