Unhappy sad event IN Iowa

We had a sad event in Iowa. One of THE chapter members who owned
a 30, two 31s and a 51 C6 all in beautiful condition had his shed burn
to the ground taking his cars with it. His name is Chuck Bogaard.
His 31 was in the last WTN. Sad, sad.

Here is a note from Chuck and Donna -

We are sending this e-mail to let you know of our recent fire Saturday,
Dec. 15. We have heard from many people but we just are sending these
out so you will have an idea of what the fire did to our building and
contents. We are not looking for sympathy just want you to know what
happened. We do not know for sure yet how the fire started. Our son Ed
was working in his shop in the building and was gone for about 30
minutes. When he came back it was engulfed with smoke. Ed and 2 others
were able to get a D-14 Allis Chalmers tractor and our 46 Hudson Pickup
out of the building. We lost 6 cars, a lawn tractor, 2 A-C tractors and
Ed lost the pickup he was fixing up. We are heart broken but then we
think of the fun and good times we have had the last 40 years. We have
met so many nice people and made many new friends. So now we will see
what the future holds as we await insurance companies etc.
If you would like to view pictures of the fire, Rick has put them on his
web page. It can be viewed at:

My condolences to you, you must be heartbroken. I can especially relate having escaped a near catastrophe (garage fire) myself a few years ago. Luckily I only needed to replace a fraction of your loss. One can only hope for some silver lining in all of this. Good luck with the settlements.

I talked to Chuck B. and he says that even though his cars were destroyed in the fire they have many parts that are still usable.

He had a 1930, two 31s and a 51 C (not sure if 6 or 8). He said that most of the sheet metal parts seem to have survived the fire ok since it was such a quick fire, they should be saveable. You might want to contact him with your needs. He might not be able to get to it for a short while but you might find out what his time frame is. Chuck is one of the most positive upbeat Christian guys I know, he wants something good to come of this just as much as all Hudson nuts do. Contact him at:
