There is a story (folkelore) I have heard for some time that in the last years of Hudson, that Richard Nixon was doing some PR work in Japan and got a committment from Toyota to join with Hudson. It was so easy that he stopped by Honda folks and worked out the same deal. When he got home and the Toyota and Honda folks realized they had been joined they pulled out causing a great problem for Hudson.
