Default Need Help with Nova Carb

I have a 1963 Chevy Nova 2-coor hardtop. The current carburetor (not the original)
has never run very smoothly and a local mechanic suggested I find an original or
other more compatible carb. But I don't even know where to start looking and if it's not an origianl how
will I know if it's compatible with my 250 straight 6 cylinder?

My car is pretty granny and I'm not interested in souping it up to hot rod status. Just want something reliable (as far as old cars go anyway.)

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Sorry to respond to your request for info with a further request. I have a '65 Nova which sounds like your '63 - Granny-like and just looking for reliable drive. Have you received any advice with your request?

Thx,

Tim

why does every one always blame the carb. there are so many other factors that can make a car run bad, esp.and older car.ie.worn distributor, intake manifold/vac.leaks etc.chech every thing by the numbers;comp.test,cyl.leak down test.ign.system/timing etc.e-mail me with your exact symptoms.i'm a 65yr.old retired mechanic have workes on 1930s thru some current mods.harry schulz finger lakes area n.y. schulz60@yahoo.com
