Default GM Differential Identification

I have a 1961 Corvette. The GM part number on the differential is: GM H277 3725899 29 I would like to know what car it may have first been installed in and the year of manufacturer. I am having difficulty in obtaining the correct U joint for this differential.

Default Re: GM Differential Identification

The H277 is the date code. It is August 27,1957. Not sure what vehicle it would originally have been in. Could have come in any 57 or 58 chevrolet.
