You might want to mention where you live! I'm sure that if you live in California, for example, you wouldn't want to be getting a lot of e-mails about rentals in Minnesota.

Default Short Time Rental for Wedding

We are looking for one or two classic cars (old Mustangs are the bride's car of choice!) to drive a wedding party from Leesburg, VA to Purcellville, VA on May 27th. We would only need the cars from 4:45 - 6:00 p.m. and would, of course, be willing to pay the owner/owners or the Car Club for supplying this transportation. We are not asking to drive your cars, but would instead appreciate renting them with you as the driver! Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Hi my name is Jennifer. I would like to rent a classic 1930 or 1940's car for my wedding in October of 2007. I live about an hour outside of Indianapolis, Indiana. Can anyone help me??We would only need the car to get from the Church to the reception site. We would be willing to pay the owner/ owners or car club for supplying this transportaion. I am not asking to drive your car but would instead appreciate renting the car with you as the driver!! Any help to this would be greatly appreciated. It has always been my dream to drive off in a classic car.

Jennifer, you may have some difficulty in actually renting such a car, unless you can find a company that does this. You see, if you pay an individual to rent his car and there's any sort of accident, he risks a huge liability, since his insurance company won't cover the car if it's rented out.

Best bet is to post a message on your company's or church's bulletin board asking if anyone knows someone with a classic car who would be willing to transport you to the wedding. (We're all only one or two steps removed from an antique car owner!) You could arrange to reimburse the owner under the table, or (if he / she was a good soul) simply offer to feed them at the reception afterwards. I've heard of people doing this sort of thing just for the fun of it. If any sort of liability is incurred during the process of moving you, the car's owner simply reports to his insurance company that he was doing a favor for a friend, not renting his car out.

You might also contact your local AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) region, and ask them if any members are willing to do this sort of thing. You'll find a list of local AACA's at the website http://www.aaca.org/regions/list.aspx . Not guaranteed to work, but it's a possibility.
