Question 74 firebird rear/leaf spring Debacle..HELP:)

I recently picked up a rear for my 74 bird, it is about 1/2" to 1" shorter backing plate to backing plate than my current rear and the mounting perches are just that, perches, not like the current stock perch and plate assembly (although they look to be lined up the same when the rears are centered). Is this a camaro rear and will it fit. Second Once out I wanted to replace the leaf springs and I have encountered a problem, I can't remove the front bolt on the springs (there is no way to slide the bolt out), I don't even know how they got them in unless you have to remove the bracket that holds the front of the spring, please advise. thanks Jim
